Jef Nys made this illustration in 1996 for a campaign about media awareness that the Flemish catholic weekly Kerk en Leven was organizing. Remark how this was before the internet (or PC’s for that matter) invaded the living room.

This is the last illustration I’m posting from the Jef Nys book. If you want to know more about Jef Nys and his illustrous carreer, I would advise you to have a look at the book itself, as it is a real treasure of lesser known material.

Pencils at Dawn is a new cartoon blog on which Mike Jacobsen and Phil Selby battle with their pencils over one keyword. Very good stuff, and not just because it happens to feature the Penguin.

Real life Franquin

Thursday, August 9th, 2007

Late last year I visited the “World of Franquin” exhibition in Brussels with my kids.

It was a great show, with lots of real life objects that were lifted from several Spirou and Gaston stories that Franquin did. I was amazed at seeing the Turbotraction cars “in the metal”, as it were. Enjoy the pictures.
