The Ephemerist

Yesterday was cartoonist and animated film directgor Gene Deitch’s 83rd birthday. Fantagraphics Books celebrates this with a cross-section of some of his work, amongst which the amazing portrait of Jelly Roll Morton above, which was created for the cover of The Record Changer magazine (September 1950).
