thanks for your comment. I kinda think it's ironic that you refer to Marvel Movie 570. At least most of the films made with marvel properties (Daredevil notwithstanding) seem to be succesful in keeping true to the atmosphere of the original comic.

With DC filmifications (again, Tim Burton's Batman and Superman Returns as the most obvious exceptions), it seems a property is taken because it's thought to be cool and hip, but then stripped of everything that made it worthwile to start with (just think Batman And Robin, League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen, V For Vendetta).

Bitch, bitch, bitch. That's all I'm hearing.

Look, those costumes were fine and dandy in the comics, but this is real life we're dealing with. Imagine how silly they would look if they dressed in spandex. Adam West ring a bell?

If they had gone that route, I guaran-damn-tee nobody would take the movie seriously, they'd take one look at a poster and walk into Marvel Movie #570.

Part of making a movie is appealing to modern times and audiences. Making a movie set in the 1980s is fine, but do you honestly think they'll spend most of the film's message on the Cold War as the Novel did? Hell no, James freakin Bond doesn't even do that anymore. So there, the theme of the novel is already gone, so what point is there in keeping the silly costumes?
