Comics Contest !

Sunday, November 30th, 2008

Illustrator Daniel Krall provided the September 10, 2008 issue of the Baltimore City Paper with this beautiful cover (which I include as a dedication to my mum, who collects imagery of people reading – and likes coffee).

That issue presented the laureates of the Paper’s annual comics contest.  The rather minimalistic comic, Important Comics, by Dina Kelberman (below) was the big winner…

Ed Piskor

Sunday, November 30th, 2008

The one that shall not be named sent me a big envelope full of newspaper cuttings and other goodies.  Among them were two beautiful illustrations from the Washtington City Paper by the wonderful Ed Piskor.  The one above illustrated an article from the January 25, 2008 issue on car vandalism; the two illustrations below were part of an article on the Great Washingtonian Novel, from the April 4, 2008 issue.
