Each year, Humo creates a special supplement to coincide with the Gouden Uil, a Flemish literary award. For this year’s event, Ever Meulen created the illustration above. Ever also created the award itself, which has been given out for the thirteenth time this year.
I like this year’s illustration a lot because in some ways (and I don’t know whether this was the purpose or not), it expresses a feeling that I’ve been having for a long time as a parent : once your kid starts reading a book, don’t interrupt, watch from a distance and create an atmosphere that will allow him to keep reading.
In february of this year, Humo ran a series of interview with young teens who suffer from a severe and even terminal illness. Ever Meulen provided the illustrations, which, as always, were bang on and gripping.
Flemish weekly Humo offered a cd with the best of 90s Belgian music as a promo recently. Ever Meulen provided some (I guess) stock images as illustrations.
The above scan is from an ad in the magazine, as I didn’t get the CD itself. Since the mag’s paper is not that top notch, the scan ’s only of a mediocre quality. Our apologies…

Back in 2005, the Belgian Post Office issued a set of special stamps to be used on letters an cards announcing the birth of a new baby. Ever Meulen created two very nice stamps : one for girls, and one for boys. Later that year, Ever would also create two special Summer stamps. I’ll post those later.
