De Gouden Uil by Ever Meulen

Each year, Humo creates a special supplement to coincide with the Gouden Uil, a Flemish literary award. For this year’s event, Ever Meulen created the illustration above. Ever also created the award itself, which has been given out for the thirteenth time this year.

I like this year’s illustration a lot because in some ways (and I don’t know whether this was the purpose or not), it expresses a feeling that I’ve been having for a long time as a parent : once your kid starts reading a book, don’t interrupt, watch from a distance and create an atmosphere that will allow him to keep reading.
