Peter Van Straaten is one of the most well-known cartoonists in the Netherlands. He consistently contributes to newspapers and magazines, and his drawings are also published frequently in the foreign press. He had a long-running comic strip about a right-wing father and his left-wing son, and also writes regular columns about life in Amsterdam. Peter’s favorite subjects are the people he meets on the street, their weaknesses and obsessions.
A collection of his drawings about the literary world was published in English by Coffee House Press (1991). Although the book seems to be out of print, used copies are still widely available.
