This ad was published on the back of the front cover for Crazy #3 (1954), the Mad clone that was published by Atlas Comics in the early 50’s. At first glance, I thought it was a parody ad in the style that Mad Magazine later would perfect, and even after going over it a few times, I’m still not quite sure it’s genuine. I mean, who wants to sell toy cars by presenting them in a big (8 feet long) pile-up ?
And “Play Tic-tac-toe and all other favorite games this different way” ? I mean, is Tic-tac-toe anybody‘s favorite game ? Sometimes reality is more absurd than the most absurd parody of it.
