Comics are the language of advertising

Over at his award-winning and really quite impressive blog, ComicsDC, my good friend Mike Rhode has collected a few interesting examples of advertisments that use visual or narrative elements borrowed from the language of comics.  They range from your average superhero in computer-related ads (above), to Matthew Woodson going all Tomine in a serialised story for Perry Ellis (which I wrote about as well, way back when).  Large-scale versions of the ads are available on Mike’s Flickr photostream.

Nice work !
