Everybody’s talking


This ad for Gillette safety razors was published in A. Merritt’s Fantasy Magazine in 1950.   Comic-style advertisments were quite common in those days.  It would seem that every other ad used speech balloons or sequential art, as these other examples, from the same magazine, will attest (after the click).

All scans were provided by Van Reid – thanks, Van !  Oh, and I’m sure that these days ad copy would be reviewed a bit more carefully, especially when it comes to how the brand name’s spelled…
