A couple of years ago, Chris Ware did the wonderful poster for the equally wonderful film Savages. Today the Vulture unveiled another one, for Palme d’Or winner Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives. Rather than his typical, rather confrontational clear line illustration style, Ware has opted for a visual language that is totally in line with his book designs.
I do like it, but I think it’s too intricate and thought-provoking to get bums-on-seats, so to speak. I guess limited edition prints will start to pop up in exclusive art publisher’s catalogues pretty soon…
