Tomato Can Blues by Mary Pilon is a story about mixed martial arts, lack of opportunity and violent revenge that is just made for a movie treatment. In the mean time, the New York Times saw the possibilities here, and commissioned illustrations to the story by cartoonist Atilla Futaki, based on actual police statements. The pictures don’t just illustrate the story, they contribute to its appeal with subtle animations and dynamics. It’s great stuff, presented great.
