In a series on the quite excellent Drawing The Times website, which is dedicated to journalism in comics format, Lebanese cartoonist Mazen Kerbaj takes a quite meta approach to the idea, and decides to document his search for a subject worthy of a comic. The result is a series of short notes-in-comics that give an idea of what the comic would be like, but also leave you essentially pining for it.
Possible subjects range from the “time of peace” in Lebanon, to Lebanese experimental music and ugly buildings to, most recently, a history of india ink. Even though these vignettes are interesting and Kerbaj’s art is wonderful, I do hope that at one point he makes up his mind (but still continues to give us these glimpses, as asides, perhaps?)
